3 UPDATE FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
The Chairman circulated a comprehensive update on the work of the Parish Council over the past 12 months which included:
Thanks to councillors who retired over the past year being Cllrs Mike Daniels, Janet Leonard and Ian Challis, all of whom were thanked for their work with the Parish Council over the years. Welcome to new councillors Andrew Gilpin (Swaby) and Dave Young (South Thoresby) co-opted during the year. Recent elections saw existing councillors in the group returned unopposed, with contested election for District with Cllr Grist being returned as our District Councillor. Considerable effort has been put into obtaining a defibrillator for Swaby, which is in the process of being ordered, and thanks go to all those involved in this project. A defibrillator has been installed in South Thoresby thanks to donation by local resident and Trustees of South Thoresby fund.
Quarry at South Thoresby continued to be an issue throughout the year with the surrounding roads, verges, hedges and properties abutting the highway bearing the brunt as a result of vehicles leaving the quarry without going through the wheelwash and/or being unsheeted. Aby Parish Council has also written to LCC to object to the state of the roads in the area. Local LCC Councillor Marfleet has been unable to assist other than confirming the view of the LCC Head of Planning concerning the poor state of the road.
Notice board in South Thoresby has been replaced by a new board situated in the bus shelter, the board on Church Lane Swaby has been removed.
The Parish Council continue to support the village hall and the churches in the group.
Clerk thanked for work during the year including sorting out supplier of defibrillator for Swaby.
