MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY COUNCIL MEETING

HELD 15TH JULY 2026

 

Present: Cllrs Gilpin (Chair); Hanson, Wright, Taylor, Start, Cooper & Milburn

Mrs J. Cooper (Parish Clerk)

There were no matters raised during the public session.

 

15          APOLOGIES

                Apologies and valid reasons for absence were received from Cllrs Young, Gibson

                Dransfield and Bailey and these were accepted.

16          DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

                There were none

17          MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 13TH MAY 2026

                It was resolved that these be signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

18          UPDATES

                Cllr Gilpin volunteered to call in at the Mens Shed as the Clerk was having difficulty contacting them.

                Still to do specific Risk Assessment for Litter Picking.

19          STREET NAME PLATES – SWABY

                Cllr Gilpin had reported faded road name plates in Swaby – in particular North Lane and Pinfold Lane.  ELDC to arrange to have them replaced.

20          FINANCIAL

                a)  Accounts for payment:

                It was resolved that the following be paid:

                Clerks salary & PAYE (June & July)                                                    £350.16

                Internal Auditor                                                                                             £  30.00

                b)  Income/expenditure  to 30th June – this was noted.

21          CORRESPONDENCE

                Catalogue from Glasdon.  Noted

22          EGL 5 & HAUL ROAD

                Cllrs Gilpin, Hanson, Bailey and Dransfield had attended the councillors consultation event at Alford and felt this was not a consultation in the correct sense, there was no opportunity for discussion and it was felt the idea was to divide councillors.  As there was still time for comments to be sent, Cllr Gilpin volunteered to complete the consultation document with some input from the Clerk.

23          UPDATE ON QUARRY MATTERS

                Deferred to next meeting.

24          AUTUMN LITTER PICK

                This was agreed as one date – Saturday 3rd October 1pm for Swaby (meet at Village Hall) and for South Thoresby (meet at bus shelter).

 

 

25          PLANNING

                Clerk had circulated amended Listed Building Consent for Driby Manor and reiterated previous comments. Regarding the need for passing places.

26          ANY OTHER MATTERS/ITEM NEXT AGENDA

                Thanks to the councillor who had removed the dead tree next to the war memorial, agreed the remaining “twigs” to be cleared.
