Information for Hirers

Swaby Village Hall - Guidelines for Hirers The Hirer has full responsibility for the Hall, its contents, and all people attending the Hall during the hiring period and must ensure that:

1. No more than 50 people are present within the Hall at any time.

2. They have completed a risk assessment commensurate with the needs of attenders and the event.

3. They know where to find fire extinguishers and how to use them in the event of fire.

4. They have read instructions for the use of electrical items and heating, as indicated within the Hall.

5. Any electrical items belonging to hirers not PA Tested must be plugged into the circuit breaker socket indicated.

6. The exit is kept clear at all times, and people attending the event must be informed that this is the only exit.

7. Crockery and cutlery is washed, dried, and placed back in cupboards.

8. Tables are folded and chairs are stacked at the end of the event (unless otherwise agreed with the booking secretary).

On leaving, hirers are asked to:

1. Leave the hall clean and tidy by sweeping floors and wiping any tables/ surfaces used. Cleaning equipment is kept in the kitchen.

2. Place all rubbish in the correct bins outside the building.

3. Turn off all electrical appliances, heaters at the switch, water heater, and all lights.

4. Lock the doors to the toilet and place the key back in the Hall.

5. Double check that all switches and water taps are turned off.

6. Return the key to the caretaker.

Please leave the hall quietly, with due consideration for neighbours, by 10.30 p.m. on weekdays and 11.00 p.m. on Friday/ Saturday.
